Ingredients

1 double pie crust bought from your local supermarket

5-6 Apples (macintosh are my favorite)

1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice

3/4 cup sugar

2 Tablespoons flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 Tablespoon cider apple vinegar

1 stick of butter (optional)

Preparation

  1. Prepare crust per directions on box
  2. Peel and thinly slice your apples
  3. Soak the apples with lemon juice and water (this will keep them from turning brown)
  4. Mix the rest of the ingredients in a mixing bowl
  5. Now, drain the water off of the apples and mix them with the spices.
  6. Dump this apple mixture into the bottom crust of the pie.
  7. (optional) Cut butter into 4 chunks and place on top of apple mixture
  8. Put top pie crust on pie (follow directions on box)
  9. Bake pie at 400F for 55 minutes
  10. Before serving, let it cool for at least 30-40 mins

*hint: Place a cookie sheet covered in tinfoil on the lower oven wrack underneath the oven wrack the pie is on to prevent any overflow from reaching the bottom of the oven–easy cleanup!
