Ingredients
1 double pie crust bought from your local supermarket
5-6 Apples (macintosh are my favorite)
1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice
3/4 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon cider apple vinegar
1 stick of butter (optional)
Preparation
- Prepare crust per directions on box
- Peel and thinly slice your apples
- Soak the apples with lemon juice and water (this will keep them from turning brown)
- Mix the rest of the ingredients in a mixing bowl
- Now, drain the water off of the apples and mix them with the spices.
- Dump this apple mixture into the bottom crust of the pie.
- (optional) Cut butter into 4 chunks and place on top of apple mixture
- Put top pie crust on pie (follow directions on box)
- Bake pie at 400F for 55 minutes
- Before serving, let it cool for at least 30-40 mins
*hint: Place a cookie sheet covered in tinfoil on the lower oven wrack underneath the oven wrack the pie is on to prevent any overflow from reaching the bottom of the oven–easy cleanup!
