Ingredients
1/2 of a 28 oz can of crushed tomato stewed tomato or tomato puree
1/2 of a 6 oz can of tomato paste
1-2 cloves of garlic (more if desired)
1/2 Tablespoon olive oil
Basil, parsley, oregano, salt and pepper to taste
2 Tablespoons of beef broth
Preparation
- Crush garlic with the side of a knife and mince
- Add olive oil to a sauce pot turned on medium-low heat. Add the garlic and gently sauté.
- Lightly cook garlic until it starts to change color
- Don’t over cook the garlic, as it will turn bitter if left too long.
- Add canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and broth. Add spices to taste.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer. Stir occasionally as it cooks.
- Add more spices if desired.
