Ingredients
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup Crisco shortening
2 eggs
2 oz red food coloring
2T cocoa
1T vanilla
3/4t salt
2 1/4 cups Cake flour
1cup buttermilk
1T vinegar
1t baking soda
Icing
1/2 c butter - room temperature
8 oz cream cheese - room temperature
2-3 cups powdered sugar
1t vanilla
Preparation
Cream sugar & Crisco. Add eggs. Add vanilla. Sift salt & flour. Add flour alternately with buttermilk. Fold in vinegar & soda. Bake 350* 20-30 minutes
Icing With electric mixer, mix butter & cream cheese, about 3 minutes on medium speed until smith. Scrape down sides. Add vanilla & mix. Slowly add powdered sugar until desired sweetness and thickness. Keep scraping down the sides (I add 3 cup powdered sugars)
