Ingredients

1 Cup unbleached all-purpose flour

pinch of sugar

1/4 tsp salt

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 stick uns. butter, cold

1/4 cup half & half (or whole milk)

1 roasted, peeled, cut 1/2" pieces of red pepper

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 425 F
  2. In large bowl, sift dry ingreds. Cut butter into 1/2" pieces & work in til mix resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the 1/2 & 1/2 & stir to blend well. Then incorporate the roasted pepper.
  4. Transfer dough to lightly floured surface & knead it for about 30 seconds. Pat it out til 1" thick & cut out rounds with a 2" cookie cutter.
  5. Arrange biscuits on baking pan about 1" apart. Bake til puffed & golden, about 15 minutes. Transfer to wire rack & let cool.
